Status
- These buildings are threatened by a proposed largish new-build mixed-use building.
- Buffalo First, a group advocating for local and small business, believes such high-cost developments tend to price local, small businesses out of the Elmwood Avenue market. Sunday Skate Shop has already vacated 587 Potomac and has moved to 212 Grant Street, citing the "planned demolition of our building".
- Local preservationists have prepared and submitted a local landmark nomination, for action at a future Preservation Board meeting and later, if successful at the Preservation Board, at Buffalo Common Council.
- Ciminelli has applied for demolition of 721 Ashland Ave., 1006, 1010, 1020, 1024, and 1028 Elmwood Ave. and 583 and 584 Potomac Ave. and partially demolish sections of 976 and 982 Elmwood Ave. All buildings are contributing resources to the Elmwood Historic District (National Register of Historic Places), with the exception of 1024 and 1028 Elmwood Ave., which are non-contributing.
