History

  • 1890 - Alexander Szczukowski opened the men's clothing store after emigrating from Poland.
  • 1918 - Building is built for the Polish Stock Co. Later taken over by Spolka Clothing
  • 1941 - Alex's son Louis took over the family-owned store.
  • 2000 - Store closes after 110 years when Louis' son, Louis Jr., died in October 2000.

    • Operated as a store named City Fashion

  • At one point, the family also operated a location in Detroit, Michigan.
