Physical Description

  • 132,000 sq.ft. brick administration building
  • 60,000 sq.ft. adjoining brick warehouse
  • Block-long series of additional brick multi-story warehouses were subdivided into different parcels/owners. Entire complex is located on 4.24 acres.

Current Condition

  • In use for various light-industrial companies. Apartment renovation plans have been announced.

History

  • The Pierce Arrow Company specialized in luxury, high-end, and handcrafted automobiles, unlike most other companies at the time.
  • 1906 - Constructed by Lockwood, Green, and Company.
  • 1908-1938 - Served as the Pierce headquarters and production facility, after which it was subdivided and used by various companies as office and industrial space.
  • 1974 - Was added to the National Register of Historic Places.

Recent Events and Actions Taken

  • August 2015 - The 132,000 sq.ft. Pierce Arrow office building is up for sale with a $4,999,999 asking price. The building is owned by Pierce Arrow Holding LLC. Buffalo Rising
  • May 2016 - Brooklyn-based Read Property Group bought the office building and assembly plant(1721-23 Elmwood) for $3.8 million, with plans for a residential conversion.
    • Pierce Arrow LLC paid $3 million for the office building and $828,601 for the properties at 1721-23 Elmwood.
  • 2017 - 'Pierce Arrow Kanaka LLC bought 1695 and 1721 Elmwood Avenue for $4.3 million from Read Property Group. Buffalo Rising
    • The Buffalo News says that LLC is tied to Nidus Development, a company headed by Dr. Gregory F. Daniel Buffalo News
