- Tim Tielman believes it to have been designed by E.B. Greene.
- GT Apfel: "Next door to this home, at 988 Ellicott Street, is where the first Playboy Motor Cars were manufactured in the mid-1940's. Prior to that, the home and 988 were part of the Brunn & Co. custom car builders, who built luxury custom automobiles for notable people like JP Morgan and the Shah of Iran."

- BNMC has requested permission to demolish this building.
- The City of Buffalo Preservation Board has been pressuring the BNMC to provide evidence of soil contamination beneath the building and has discussed landmark designation.
- April 3, 2017 - The Campaign For Buffalo, History, Architecture & Culture got a temporary restraining order in State Supreme Court late Friday after the city issued a demolition permit for the brick house at 980 Ellicott Street.
- April 7, 2017 - State Supreme Court Justice Diane Y. Devlin left a temporary restraining order preventing the demolition in place at least until a court date June 5.

- Jessie Fisher of PBN: "The judge found in favor of the demolition. The plaintiffs do plan to appeal the ruling, but they did not have an injunction, so while AWFUL, the demo was in fact legal."
